The US election did, indeed, have a historical outcome with Barack Obama becoming the first black president .Much has been anticipated with relation to the bearing this election outcome will have on the world stage. Cries of “change” and a new era for the US politics at home and abroad have been heard. How true are these expectations of change? Will the world be a different place now that a black president is the new commander in chief of USA? The world might be moving towards a change, but would it be a change for the better or worse? Will Barack Obama be able to come up to the expectation of not only his own people but also on the expectations of all those non Americans who cheered for him, supported his ideals and celebrated his success around the globe? The answer to all these questions is that only time will decide whether Barack Obama is equipped with the kind of determination required to grapple with a global economic slowdown ,a quagmire like war on terrorism and post bush regime foreign policy challenges. - His goal is to use targeted tax relief to help middle class families cope with rising costs and stagnant pay
- Has been a strong opponent of the war in Iraq from the outset and believes that there military solution
- He favors the strategy of phased withdrawal of US forces
- Mr .Obama has a competitive edge when it comes to” present day” understanding of Asia and its culture. Both as a child and as an adult Barrack Obama has had an opportunity to get upclose to Muslim culture and traditions. He had also visited the city of Karachi in Pakistan with his college friend and therefore believes that he can have a better relationship with the people of Pakistan (something previous US governments have ignored).
- Supporter of “aggressive personal diplomacy” and as a result would meet Iranian President without preconditions. However the military option is not off the table regarding Iran.
- He criticizes the Bush foreign policy and says that it has put US at more risk.
- Mr. Obama proposes to work towards a 80 percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 if he gets nominated for president. He also wants USA to lead international efforts to fight climate change.
- Barrack Obama backs universal coverage but would not make insurance compulsory except for children
- He wants US-Mexico border to be policed better and is a proponent of strict penalties for those employers who hire un documented workers. He also argues that giving illegal immigrants a right to citizenship should not be considered as an amnesty if they pay their fines.
- He trust women can take their decisions related to Abortion in consultation with their doctors, family and clergy. He has strongly criticized the US Supreme Court decision related to upholding a ban on late term abortion.

As the showdown gets closer campaigning is getting hotter with former US president Bill Clinton announcing that he will be touring with Senator Obama to each of this gathering to summon support for him. Earlier this week Mr. Collin Powell had also endorsed Barack Obama for the post of president saying “that he(Mr. Obama)has the charisma and personality required for the post of the US president”. Despite all the pressure tactics, Mr. McCain is still high in spirits and has been quoted as saying that his campaign to win the hearts and minds of Americas For the post of US President is “doing fine”.
